MUSIC FOR DEAD ANIMALS, Berlin

Music for Dead Animals
by and with Henry Wilde & Neo Hülcke

„Music for Dead Animals“ consists of a series of films documenting how Neo Hülcker and Henry Wilde play concerts for dead animals. Only they and the animal are present. The focus is on the way the respective animal heard and the sounds it perceived in its life.
The project began in 2017 with the mummified owl Pierre, which Neo Hülcker and Henry Wilde discovered during a summer vacation in southern France. Further concerts for the beetle Ambrosia, the dog Archi and the vixen Freya followed.

As part of this project, Henry Wilde and Neo Hülcker have each composed a piece for the other, focusing on their relationship with a particular animal. Henry Wilde will have Neo Hülcker perform a memorial piece for his cat Schnucko (died 2009) and Neo Hülcker’s composition will feature Henry Wilde as a virtuoso turkey impersonator.
