In the scope of the exhibition Future Light, curated by Maria Lind vor the VIENNA BIENNALE 2015, artists Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz are presenting a large-scale video installation in the Kunsthalle Wien under the exhibition title Loving, Repeating. The installation questions the contemporary validity of central concepts of the Enlightenment such as subjetivity, light, transparency and the public sphere from the perspective of queer political theory. The piece features three of the artist duo’s films from recent years, Opaque (2014), To Valerie Solanas and Marilyn Monroe in Recognition of Their Desperation (2013) and Toxic (2012), each of which is shown on a large-format screen. Framed by additional scenic elements, a cinematic course is created, providing space for new forms of subjectivity and desire.
